December and a photography challenge

Hey guys!

It's December now.  Thanksgiving came and went and now we are trying to make it as Christmas-y as possible.

Thanksgiving will be its own post, but here's a taste of a little hike we did with Darrell and family while down in Vegas:

It was stunning, to say the least.  Awesome, awesome hike.

I'm doing this photography challenge with my sister, so we'll see how we actually do.  To be honest, I'm not sure she's doing it.  But I will try.

12.1 - ME!

This is me, taken yesterday as I gazed outside at the tornado-type wind whipping my yard around.  Lukily, all trees are in their rightful spots in the ground and there was no damage.

Should I truly introduce myself?  My name is Danielle.  I'm 29-years-old, but I feel like I'm 23 (no joke).  I work at my alma mater and love it!  But, I dream of being a stay-at-home wife/mom and gardening all day long.  :)  Oh, and living on a ranch, in a house with a wrap-around porch and plenty of open, beautiful fields. A girl can dream.  I grew up in Las Vegas, but I think I'm a country girl at heart.

As stated, Jack and I are trying to make the most of this season.  We have been listening to Christmas music and right now have gingerbread houses awaiting decorations.

This little ditty came on (one of my FAVORITE Christmas songs) and it fit today's theme.

12.2 - Elf

So, perhaps there will be daily posts the month of December!

bwahaha..

Yeah, I didn't believe that one either.  ;)

Saturday, October 9, 2010

Well, hello again.

I have been BUSY!

So many stories, over A THOUSAND pictures from the week in Vegas... and today?  Today I will give some sneak peaks so people know that, while photo challenges are on hold, I am in no way slacking.  :)

I was flown down for this girl's birthday

for the express purpose of taking her family's pictures.  (That was NOT easy!  Next time I take pics of kids, I'm bringing duct tape and candy...)

I also did some of her sister-in-law Missy's family

AND her other sister-in-law's little boy.  (She was very crabby, though, so I didn't bother too much with her family.... I'm free, but you don't have to treat me like I am...)

We did a photo shoot of Missy

A tiny little one of Kerri (oh for more time in that place!)

I squeezed in some shots of my family at Joe's Crab Shack - YUM!

I ate chocolate-covered strawberries (I want some right now)

I grabbed some here and there of D'On workin' it

...kids being kids

...and I even got some of Kerri's littlest (though I had to literally chase her down)

Then, RIGHT before I boarded the plane to come home, I was able to meet up with my gorgeous friend from high school (band camp!) for yet another photo shoot.

No, no.  There's been zero slacking.  It was fun, frustrating, exciting, nerve-wracking, and all-around thoroughly enjoyable.

Reno???  How about you?  Do you want to wear me out like Vegas did?  I'll gladly accept it!

Week 4 Challenges :)

OKAY!  I lie.  A lot.

I did not post these Saturday.  I did not post them Monday.  But I AM posting them today.  That's something, right?

Food photography - Drinks (I know, I know... this isn't quite what the challenge is about, but oh well)

Kickapoo Joy Juice -- just for you Dad!

Smile

ABCs

Candid

Silhouette (these are my favorites!)

Have you done the challenges??  If so, let me know so I can go check it out!!  :)

ALSO, BIG THANK YOU to the folks that follow my blog.  For doing so, I will be giving FREE high fives the next time I see you.  ;)  I'm cool like that.

But you're cooler.

Battle of the Blue (and red...)

I KNOW that D'On will be doing a UNLV Spirit post.

But we all know UNR is better.

Of course.

Challenge: Spirit

It's not so much that these depict SPIRIT... but walking around the stadium made me feel all nostalgic for my alma mater.

So I say: GO WOLFPACK!!!

And guess what??  I will be in Vegas for the UNLV vs UNR game.

And I will be coming home with a cannon.

Oh yes siree.  :)

'Cause I bleed blue.

Week 3 Photography Challenges

Oh.  Hello.

I'm not quite done with this week's challenges, but I would like to post what I've got.  I have one left for this week.

Be sure to check out my sister's photos from this week!  Click here to visit her blog.

Less is More

Learning (which, I had a fantastic shoot planned, but it didn't work today...so expect something AWESOME next week!  I'm excited for it!  The following is not so awesome... BUT, it is what it is.)

Nature B&W

Tell Me A Story  (This one is my favorite.  I think I'll put up more about this in a separate post.)

I love doing this!  It's so much fun and it is seriously all I think about anymore!

Anyone in the Reno want a FREE photo session so I can practice more??  If so, leave a message.  (But, please remember, only patient people need inquire!  haha)

Photography Challenges

**Edited:  Be sure to check out my sister, D'On's work as well.  She's amazing.  Go here to see her interpretations of these same challenges!

Here's my catch-up post!  Are you ready??  :)

SHOES

B&W - 10 MINUTES FROM HOME  (you'll see a definite theme today...haha)

NUMBERS  (this one did not thrill me one bit, by the way.)

AAAAND....

FILM NOIR

The definite hardest for me was film noir... but numbers and the 10 minutes from home thing definitely lacked creativity from me.  I wasn't feelin' it.  But, they were fun anyway, and I like the way they all turned out.

Thanks for looking!!

On to this week's challenges...
