Ah summer!

I love summer.

So does Jack.

He doesn't like to be cold.  I guess the Pittsburgh mission did him in.  And I say unto him:  try Boston!

Amen and amen.

Anyway, this past week we were supposed to go to the California coast with his family.  His car broke down, and, lacking money (can't we live on love -- C'MON), we decided it was best to stay home.  Let me tell you, there are so many fun things going on in Reno during the summer -- the Farmer's Market, Truckee River fun, lakes galore, Artown... it's good stuff.

Jack and I discovered the joys of the river this weekend.  We had so.much.fun!  If you live in Reno and haven't been downtown to the river, GO!

Along with our river adventures, we kicked off our week away from work with a trip to Frenchmen's lake.  It's super close to our house.

It was a good idea in theory.

Why only in theory??

Meet Riley:
One big black fuzz ball of excitement and energy.  We're dog-sitting him for two weeks.  Not gonna lie -- he's a handful.  AND, his mamma was not lyin' either when she said he's no fun to take swimming.

We learned the hard way.  For whatever reason, when you're swimming, Riley thinks he needs to save you, by swimming on your head or scratching the ahems out of your arms and legs.

BUT, Frenchmen's really was a wonderful idea.
